------------------
NOTE: Canal repairs were often done in the winter months when the canal was inactive and the water could be drained. The buildings in the background run along the north side of Clinton Street. The brick building at left and the warehouse at far right are still standing today, although the other two buildings in between are no longer standing. Note the young man looking out the window in the center building, which was the Craner clothier shop. Also note the tension cables on the underside of the North Main Street bridge, visible at the very top of the photograph.
