my aunt Louise Hogle was the town tax collector for a number of years. Not certain but it may have been 50’s and 60’s. Her daughter and my cousin Patty was struck by lightening along with 3 other girls while in a boat on the Seneca river near their home on River Rd. Joan Quimby was the only survivor. This was August 14th,1948. Some in town may remember.

Thought you might want to add this to the history of Jordan.

I have a newspaper clipping of this event.  Four 15 year old girls were in a small motorboat that was struck by lightening, three of them died instantly and the fourth was knocked unconcious.  She came to and swam for help. My mom was best friends and classmate of one of the girls that died.
